Book Tour's First Week a Major Success

We just wrapped a very successful week of public appearances, media interviews and business meetings with community leaders to launch the book tour for "How to Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life" co-written by Art Linkletter and Mark Victor Hansen.

Scheduling a series of public apppearances is a great way to sell hundreds of books very quickly. It's also a great way to get a lot of media coverage.

After their appearances Tuesday, the Ocala Star Banner ran three color photos starting ABOVE THE FOLD on the front page of the Local & State section.

Mark and Art were also a hit at The Villages on Thursday, where their first show sold out and a second show had to be added. Yesterday's Daily Sun featured a large full color photo on the front page -- ABOVE THE FOLD -- with a great recap of their show (the article even continued to a jump page inside the first section, relegating the article on Florida Senate President and CFO Candidate Tom Lee's visit to page A5 with just a small black and white photo.

I've posted lots more photos .

Book Tour Photos

Today we kicked off the first leg of the book tour for Mark Victor Hansen and Art Linkletter, promoting their new book How to Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life.

It's been a whirlwind day of private events, speaking engagements with audiences of several hundred people, and a few more media interviews. I've posted a few of the photos online.

Linda Davis welcomes Orlando EDC members

Standing on stage with Linda Davis and her family while they performed last night was such a treat. I've posted some of the photos on flickr.

Video taken while we were stading on the Ryman Auditorium stage.

Linda Davis Rocks!

WOW!!!

I knew we were in for a treat when Linda Davis agreed to join us tonight for the EDC's opening reception in Nashville, but even I was mesmerized by her incredible talent when she graciously performed for us. She's a voice well known in Nashville circles, considered by many of her famous peers as one of the best female vocalists in the industry.

Over the years, this incredibly talented woman has played to sold out crowds with such stars as George Straight, Garth Brooks and Kenny Rogers. Linda is probably best known for Does He Love You, her Grammy award-winning duet with Reba McEntire, another of my all-time favorites.

Tonight's performance was quite a treat as Linda sang with her husband, Lang Scott (who toured as a background vocalist and guitarist for Reba), and daughter, Hillary, a fellow MTSU Blue Raiders supporter. Talent runs deep in this family, as does their gracious hospitality. Linda posed with just about everyone for photos (she's gorgeous, so naturally we all wanted pictures with her) and she even autographed my old Shoot for the Moon cd!

Metro Orlando EDC Mission Trip Starts Today

We're on the plane headed to Nashville for the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission's trade mission. This will be an agenda-packed couple of days as we meet with the movers and shakers of Nashville - the people behind the scenes of such economic development successes as getting Nissan and Dell to relocate their headquarters to Nashville.

It may be known as Music City, USA, but Nashville is so much more...and you'll be hearing more about it over the next few days.
